  1. With Boces, Mercury Rev took everything that made Yerself Is Steam such an impressive debut and made their second album even more so. Over the course of ten minutes, opening epic "Meth of a Rockette's Kick" moves from dreamy musing to guitar-fueled crests -- and throws in flutes, harps, a brass section, and a choir for good measure -- announcing that the group is at the height of its powers.

  2. This is my all time favorite Mercury Rev album! I have to admit I was a little afraid of the cover at first (I still can't look at it face up), but after I got passed that I was brought into a whole new world of music. The music is so fun, yet intense in a trippy sort of way. My favorite song is "Something For Joey" - /5(15).

  8. Mercury Rev’s next album was released normally overseas but teased into US circulation as a series of EPs. The Secret Migration, something of a concept album on love, life and romance, returns Rev to the lushness of Deserter’s Songs. Donahue, Grasshopper and Fridman weave a dizzying quilt of sound in the service of Donahue’s most.

  9. Aug 06,  · Fantastic, Something For Joey plays at 45 RPM while the B-Side plays at RPM, the sleeve doesnt actually hold the record, as it is just a 3 panel fold-out with printing on both sides, great songs though, love love love the Rev/5(8).
