Many of the problems people heard then and now on prerecorded cassettes are better blamed on high-speed transfers, improperly calibrated dolby, cheap.

The coolest cassette I found was an original issue of "Byrds" 73 reunion with the old hard case slip on and the cassette itself was bright pink! I didn't buy it though as I figured the old tapes probably didn't sound very good. But those XDR tapes were really good to my ears back.
